Sun-Ways

Removable Solar Power Between Railway Tracks

Buttes (Neuchâtel), Switzerland; company based in Ecublens

Highlight

The world's first removable solar plant laid between active rails, turning idle track space into clean power.

Extended description

Sun-Ways has developed the world's first removable photovoltaic system installed directly between active railway tracks. A dedicated track machine lays and removes the panels quickly, keeping rail operations safe and maintenance easy. By turning unused railway space into clean-energy infrastructure, it generates renewable electricity without additional land and could eventually help power rail networks. A pilot in Buttes, Switzerland, is testing the technology in real operation.
