Reuse Systems for Takeaway Packaging

Refillable Urban Food Containers (Solution Type)

Global (widely applicable)

Highlight

Shared reusable cups and food containers replace single-use packaging through deposit-and-return networks.

Extended description

Reusable takeaway-packaging systems provide standardised cups, boxes or containers that customers borrow, return and recirculate through participating restaurants, cafés and collection points. Deposit, subscription or digital-return models make reuse convenient at city scale. By replacing repeated single-use packaging with durable items used many times, these systems can reduce waste and material demand when supported by efficient washing and logistics.
