Nostromo Energy's IceBrick is a cold thermal-energy-storage system that freezes water in hundreds of capsules during off-peak hours, when electricity is cheaper and greener, then discharges the stored cold to air-condition large buildings during peak hours. Suited to hotels, hospitals and offices, it shifts cooling load away from peak grid demand, cutting emissions and costs. The company has secured a major US DOE conditional commitment to deploy installations in California.
