In Barranquilla, the district government, with EU support and architects El Equipo Mazzanti, transformed the neglected Ciénaga de Mallorquín lagoon into an ecopark based on mangrove regeneration and blue-green infrastructure. Restoring mangroves strengthens coastal protection, carbon storage and biodiversity, while boardwalks and public facilities give residents access to nature. It combines climate adaptation, ecosystem recovery and urban regeneration.
