Biochar
Carbon-Negative Soil Amendment from Biomass
International
Highlight
Locks carbon into stable charcoal while improving soils and turning organic waste into a valuable resource.
Extended description
Biochar is a carbon-rich material produced by heating biomass in low-oxygen conditions (pyrolysis). When applied to soil, it can remain stable for hundreds of years, effectively removing carbon from the atmosphere while improving soil structure, water retention and nutrient availability. Produced from agricultural, forestry or urban organic residues, biochar combines waste valorisation, soil restoration and durable carbon removal in a relatively simple technology.
